You just got a new subscriber. I've have been stuck for so long trying to understand theory and how it applies to songs. Your videos seem to answer all my late night questions.

Been playing guitar for a loooong time, not really bothering about knowing exactly the name of each note (and I have perfect pitch and theory knowledge) until I heard several good players / teachers underline how important that was. And today, looking for the fastest way to memorize them, I just realized thanks to your video, I mean realized RIGHT NOW that the 4 dots above the 12th were the same as below. It's so obvious and yet I never really just thought about it. You just made my guitar life (the only real life) simpler, so THANKS MATE!!

I like your content… but I have to say, Elixir strings have been the only strings I’ve bought that came straight out of the package with rust on them. Maybe I got a bad set ?

Once you realize that you only need the 5 regular Major/Minor scale patterns but need to move it on the fretboard to match the key to the root note of the mode it becomes pretty easy. The channel Fret Science explained this pretty well by showing how the patterns match geometrical shapes. Makes visualizing and remembering very easy.

Brother, I have been looking for someone to explain to me this concept for years. Every person I ask gives this convoluted half assed answer. I like you said in the beginning, I knew the pentatonic and caged and I knew yhey went with eachother, but anytime I’d ask someone, they would give me something that contradicted both concepts. Thank you so much, I’m going to watch this video about 8 more times and I think you have just broken my plateau

Hello, and thank you for your awesome vid's ....I am wondering if you , or anyone could help me out with understanding something.....My question is kinda loaded with a couple of things....Assuming I'm playing G major ( E shape ) playing around in that respective pentatonic shape, then move to C Major ( A shape )....Do my licks now come from that A shape pentatonic pattern?...Secondly: When I move to D major ( A shape ) Am I to play again in the A shape pentatonic? Whats confusing me is, I like moving through the pentatonic shapes 1 - 5 ....however now that I'm learning this Rhythm / lead style, I am confused about which pentatonic shape "is next" For example....C major A shape....slide into D Major A shape confuses me....do I play around in the same A shaped petatonic? ........When just soloing its easy to see which shapes i can move in and out of, and the order of them....but now with chords, I'm confused. Hope this all makes sense

This is a very good explanation of chord progressions. Your tone of your voice makes me a bit sleepy, but I slapped myself awake to get the the information. :-)

I have a question, would the parallel approach to looking at modes work with the harmonic minor and melodic minor scales and their modes??

Fuck man, I can’t believe I’m sooo retarded that it’s sooo damn hard to understand this and I’ve been playing for an embarrassing long ass amount of time, all self taught and just learn songs no chords, notes, keys, or circles and shit. I don’t even know what these letters look like in a damn fret board. I play every day and I sit there and look at videos but then all the talking turns into Chinese and i become numb and just click to another video.

You opened me up to modes and i now understand how they work. Thanks very much!
